ThWhat we did For this experiment we sprouted different types of seeds to determine if they were monocots or dicots. We used mung beans and corn. The seeds were soaked overnight, and the next day we sprouted them. We sprouted them in clear plastic cups filled with damp paper towel. The cups were clear so that we could see the sprouts as they grew and formed. We recorded what type of water we used, as well as how much. We chose where to put them so we could control how much sun they got while they were growing.
My experiment For my experiment I used 1 corn seed and 5 mung beans. After they were soaked in water overnight, i put them in a cup filled with damp paper towels. I used 20 ml of drinking fountain water every day. The beans grew fast, and within 4 days they measured 2.5 inches. The corn grew a little slower, and by the 4th day were around 2 inches. Overall the mung bean sprouts reached a length of 3.3 inches, and the corn grew to be 2.7 inches.
