In this unit, I learned about america’s healthcare system, with all of its triumphs and flaws. I learned about how different levels of risk can affect more than just one person. Someone with a higher risk might need help from people with lower risk. This system is what determines the price that everyone has to pay for their healthcare. During this unit, I learned how to predict outcomes of a situation using probability and expected value. In this unit, we had to work with others a few times. I usually don’t like to work alone, so this was helpful, especially if I needed help understanding the problems.
Pit And Pendulum Growth statement
For the Pit and Pendulum unit, we worked on figuring out what affected the period (swing) of a pendulum. We stared the unit by reading “The Pit and the Pendulum” by Edgar Allan Poe. We then built pendulums hanging from the desk to experiment with. We started working with variables. In the end, we came to the conclusion that the only variable that affects the period of a pendulum is the length of the string, rope, chain, or other material the bob hangs from.
Throughout the unit, I think that I did a mostly good job of staying focused and on task. There were definitely a few days that I wasn't focusing or that I was talking to friends and classmates, and it kept me from doing some work that day. However, I was focused most of the time because this unit was really interesting and fun to do.
